Most scholarship grants we know are given to students that greatly excels academically. But this new scholarship provided by Gov. Jun Ynares gives hope to students who are working to earn money to pursue their education.
These incoming college students were the recipients of “Gawad Kabataang Dangal ng Magulang”. They belong to marginalized families who make ends meet just to support their own education. These are the students who take odd jobs before or after school in order to finance their schooling.
They may not have high grades nor excel on any academic endeavor, but their hard work, sacrifices, and perseverance are enough reasons for the Provincial Government to grant support so these students can continue to college.
The “Kabataang Dangal ng Magulang” awardees are now part of the Iskolar ni Gob program that supports around 9,000 students around the province.
There are a lot of underprivileged students who want to pursue their education but have no means of doing so if they would not work on their own. High standards in getting a scholarship grant also diminishes their hopes if they could not comply with the grade requirements.
We hope other provinces would do the same thing and grant scholarships like this.
